Major update for Speed Racers!
A huge update to Speed Racers is live now! The update includes net code changes, playability improvements and fixes, customisation and control configuration!
It's been in the works for a while, but I'm happy to announce the major quality of life upgrade for Speed Racers is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android! This update represents what I really wanted from the game, and although a few more changes are in progress to "finalise" the game, this is pretty much the final state of the game. I could keep adding and fixing features, but realistically without people to continue the game and create assets, this may well be one of the last updates ever published for Speed Racers. I'm actively working on more projects that are significantly bigger than this, so keep checking back for more updates on my journey into game development!
But wait, there's more! In this update, I did a lot of internal work moving to Unity's URP and new Input System packages, so console ports of the game could be coming soon 👀. An iOS port is also... working, but sadly without an Apple developer license (which is super expensive), I don't think that will be coming to the App Store any time soon.
I'd also like to say thank you to everyone that worked on this game and supported the development. It's been great to have people play this silly little game and to see something done with such passion finally reach a point where we're happy with it - myself and the team.
